Nacon and developer Rogue Factor have unveiled a new seven-minute gameplay video for Hell is Us, offering a first look at the game’s investigation mechanics and dungeon design philosophy.

Set in the war-torn, isolated nation of Hadea, Hell is Us invites players to navigate a world full of buried history and supernatural threats. The dungeons featured in the game are not optional side quests—they’re central to the narrative and deeply tied to uncovering the truths behind Hadea’s strange events.
According to creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, these spaces are built around a “player-plattering” design approach—an intentional move away from traditional handholding. “We want players to rediscover the joy of exploring for themselves,” he explains. “Every dungeon presents a unique tone, challenge, and atmosphere, with environmental clues that must be read and understood to progress. It’s about observation, intuition, and survival.”
Players will have to rely on more than combat to succeed. The dungeons challenge both logic and spatial awareness, leading up to dramatic confrontations that reveal key pieces of the world’s dark past.
Hell is Us launches September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
