Impermanence, the upcoming narrative-driven first-person sci-fi psychological horror game from co-developers Bad Choices Loud Noises and Duckosaurus Games, premiered its first gameplay footage during The MIX Fall Online Showcase. Alongside the new trailer highlighting its early chapters, the developers confirmed that production on a vertical slice is underway, targeting a public Steam demo around late January 2027.

In Impermanence, a grieving scientist breaks into the abandoned Orpheum theatre night after night, trying to bring his deceased son back. He rebuilds the boy’s bedroom beneath the stage, using acoustic levitation to move toys, photographs, and other keepsakes as he attempts to reach his son through the static.
There’s no traditional combat or reliance on jump scares. Instead, you manipulate objects using sound, arranging pieces of your son’s former life to draw out echoes of his presence. But these experiments attract a force that seeks to restore the natural order, and the objects you choose and where you place them influence what emerges from the darkness…
Impermanence is currently in development for PC via Steam, aiming for a 2027 release.
