Indie developer Maskborne has announced that its upcoming hand-drawn 2D Metroidvania Maskborne has passed 50,000 wishlists on Steam just one month after launching its store page. In a developer update, the team confirmed they intend to remain independent despite publisher interest, while actively preparing a playable vertical slice to serve as the foundation for an upcoming public demo.

In Maskborne, death has vanished from a world in ruins, and you must find a way to bring it back. As you venture through ancient ruins, flooded caverns, and dark crypts, twisted creatures and environmental hazards stand in your way. Rare ingredients can be used to craft and summon Boundlings, companion creatures with unique abilities that aid you in combat and help you navigate the world.
Maskborne is currently in development for PC via Steam, with a release date yet to be announced.
