Publisher 505 Games and developer ArtPlay have revealed a new gameplay trailer for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, the sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, as part of Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Set in a 2.5D gothic rendition of 16th-century England, the story follows dual protagonists Leonard Brandon of the Church’s Black Wolves clan and Alexander Kyteler, a lone surviving knight of the White Stags. Together, the duo embarks on an expedition to infiltrate an ethereal castle and defeat Demon Lord Elias.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement introduces a Buddy System that lets you switch between Leo and Alex on the fly, or control them both at the same time to deal with environmental traps and pull off combined attacks. The game also features the series’ biggest map yet, with a dynamic day-night cycle that changes enemy behavior and how you interact with the world. Combat gets a new twist with the Epiphany Combat System, which unlocks new attacks as you fight. You can also customize your characters, craft armor, and cook food as you explore.
Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027. A Nintendo Switch 2 version has not been confirmed at this time.
