DaRmaZat Publisher Kinetic Publishing and developer Half Mermaid Productions have officially revealed PRECOGNITION (formerly teased as Project C), scheduled to launch in spring 2028 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Directed by IMMORTALITY and Her Story creator Sam Barlow alongside acclaimed horror filmmaker Brandon Cronenberg (Possessor, Infinity Pool), the live-action sci-fi horror title builds upon Half Mermaid’s signature full-motion video format with non-linear narrative choices.
In PRECOGNITION, you take on the role of Diana, who begins receiving prescient visions following an experimental brain implant. Gameplay revolves around inspecting these glimpses of the future and committing specific details to Diana’s memory in the present day. However, prescience carries immediate consequences: the moment a detail is remembered, the timeline shifts, altering the upcoming narrative based directly on the player’s choices and observations.
Both creators emphasized that the collaboration bridges interactive mystery with subjective horror, aiming to test the boundaries of non-linear cause-and-effect storytelling.
