DaRmaZat The Viking survival game Valheim is set to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, arriving alongside the previously announced PlayStation 5 version. Developed by Iron Gate Studio and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, the acclaimed survival experience continues its expansion to new platforms after its success on PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store) and Xbox systems.
Originally released in Early Access on PC in 2021 before reaching Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2023, Valheim places players in a procedurally generated afterlife inspired by Norse mythology. Designed for solo play or cooperative survival with up to ten players, the game challenges adventurers to explore hostile biomes, construct settlements, craft powerful gear, and defeat formidable mythic foes to earn their place among the gods.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version was revealed during a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase and is confirmed to support full cross-play with other platforms. Players can also expect touchscreen functionality for menu navigation, HD Rumble 2 for enhanced feedback, and gyroscope aiming to better suit handheld and docked play styles. These features aim to bring the full Valheim experience to Nintendo’s new hardware without compromise.
Since its Early Access debut, Valheim has grown significantly through major updates that introduced new regions, enemies, equipment, and building options. At full release on modern consoles, the game will feature eight fully realized biomes, including the eerie Mistlands, the volcanic Ashlands, and the frozen mystery of the Deep North. With more than 12 million copies sold and an overwhelmingly positive reception from the community, Valheim’s arrival on Switch 2 marks another milestone in its ongoing journey.
