City-building strategy game Life Below is opening sign-ups for its upcoming PC playtest on Steam, with the full release date yet to be announced. Developed by Megapop and published by Kasedo Games, the playtest is positioned as a major milestone following extensive player feedback gathered at Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, and Steam Next Fest, and will go live on February 9.

The new playtest phase invites players to help shape the ongoing development of Life Below, offering access to a more refined version of the underwater city builder. Updates include smoother early-game progression, rebalanced systems, expanded coral evolution, additional fish species and housing options, new narrative moments, and improved luring and ecosystem management mechanics, all supported by more polished visuals and reactive audio design. Access requests can now be submitted directly through the game’s Steam page.
Set beneath the ocean’s surface, Life Below blends city building, survival, and ecological strategy as players restore dying coral reefs and rebuild fragile marine ecosystems. Guided by a story written by Rhianna Pratchett and informed by marine biology, the game challenges players to balance environmental conditions, biodiversity, and long-term sustainability while responding to natural and human-made threats across varied underwater biomes.
