The reef city-builder Life Below has unveiled a new gameplay trailer, offering a deeper look at its underwater world ahead of its planned 2026 release for PC via Steam. Published by Kasedo Games and developed by Megapop, the game presents a fresh take on the city-building genre with a strong environmental and social focus.

Set on a near-future Earth where oceans have been permanently altered, Life Below tasks players with restoring fragile marine ecosystems beneath the waves. The newly released trailer highlights core gameplay systems, including responding to environmental threats such as heatwaves and oil spills, rebuilding damaged coral reefs, and upgrading them to better support long-term survival. As reefs grow and stabilize, players can attract a wider range of sea life, increasing biodiversity across interconnected underwater biomes.
The footage also introduces the Wildlife View, a new feature that allows players to closely follow sea creatures as they move through different environments. This perspective emphasizes the living, reactive nature of the ocean world and reinforces the game’s focus on ecosystem-driven design rather than traditional resource exploitation.
Alongside the trailer reveal, Life Below has been recognized at the Unity Awards 2025, where it received the Social Impact award. The honor highlights Megapop’s commitment to meaningful, purpose-driven game design and acknowledges the title’s themes of environmental stewardship and sustainability. Selected by an expert jury, the game stood out for both its message and its execution within the city-building space.
