Clover Bite and publisher Kwalee have released the first public demo for GRIME II, giving players an early chance to experience the surreal action-adventure Metroidvania ahead of its full PC launch. Alongside the hands-on build, a new gameplay trailer offers a deeper look at the game’s bizarre environments, hostile creatures, and the Formless’ ability to absorb enemies and summon molds that mimic their shape.

The demo, now available on Steam, highlights the sequel’s expanded playstyle customization, offering a range of weapons, abilities, and mold summons that allow players to craft their own approach. As in the original game, combat and movement loop tightly together, with tendrils made of hands enabling parries, gap-closing strikes, and the absorption of enemy abilities. Summoned molds aid in both combat and exploration, opening up alternative routes and hidden paths throughout the world.
Clover Bite notes that GRIME II is being shaped heavily by community feedback gathered since the release of the original GRIME in 2021, and the demo aims to reflect that ongoing evolution. The team also emphasizes that while fans are eager for a release date, the studio is committed to delivering the best possible version of the game. The developers will announce the launch date when they’re ready, and in the meantime encourage players to share impressions and feedback from the demo.
GRIME II once again casts players as the Formless, an art-mimicking entity capable of reshaping absorbed foes into living weapons. The sequel ventures into an entirely new region of the GRIME universe—a land steeped in strange cultures, grotesque art, and surreal body transformation. Environments built from painted nails, carved ceramics, and shifting organic structures set the stage for explorative traversal and fast, punishing combat.
