Square Enix has released a free demo for Octopath Traveler 0 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The demo allows players to experience the opening hours of the game, with save data transferable to the full version when it launches on December 4.

In this early look, players can create their own protagonist and begin an epic journey following the destruction of their hometown. The demo offers up to three hours of gameplay, featuring the prologue and first chapters of the Master of Wealth, Master of Power, and Master of Fame storylines. Players can also explore the Kindlers of the Flame chapter to test the new Town Building system, which lets them rebuild the village of Wishvale.
Set in the land of Orsterra, Octopath Traveler 0 tells a grand story of rebirth, vengeance, and divine power. The game continues the series’ hallmark HD-2D visual style while introducing new mechanics such as character customization and town restoration. It also features the familiar Path Actions system for interacting with NPCs and the Break and Boost combat mechanics that reward strategic timing.
Pre-orders are now available across all platforms. The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Digital Deluxe Edition adds Deluxe Travel Provisions, a digital art book, and extra skills and decorative items. A Collector’s Edition bundles physical collectibles with the Deluxe upgrade. Pre-order bonuses include the Travel Provisions Support Pack and the exclusive Icewind Mastery Action Skill.
Square Enix has also announced special in-game rewards for players with save data or purchase history from select titles, including Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler II, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and the Dragon Quest HD-2D Remake series.
