Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Kiwami Collection, and Dark Ties Bring New Life to the Series

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza franchise with a wave of remakes, definitive editions, and a brand-new spinoff, ensuring both longtime fans and newcomers have plenty to dive into.

The first arrival is Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, releasing on December 8 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC following its Switch 2 debut earlier this year. This definitive edition revisits the neon-lit streets of 1988 Tokyo and Osaka, where Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima’s fates intertwine in a crime drama full of style and excess. The Director’s Cut introduces new cutscenes, expanded backstories, and the Red Light Raid multiplayer mode, adding fresh depth to the iconic prequel.

That same day, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, complete with additional language support and a bundled physical edition. These remakes reimagine the series’ earliest entries, from Kiryu’s fight to survive a billion-yen conspiracy to his explosive clash with Ryuji Goda, the “Dragon of Kansai”. A 20th Anniversary Bundle will also be available, packaging Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 into one collector’s set.

Looking ahead, February 12, 2026 marks the release of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Kiwami 3 delivers a ground-up remake of Kazuma Kiryu’s Okinawa saga, while Dark Ties introduces a brand-new story following Yoshitaka Mine’s descent into the underworld. Alongside brutal brawler combat and emotional storytelling, Dark Ties adds boxing-inspired battles and new side activities.

Together, these launches bridge the series’ celebrated past and its evolving future, underscoring SEGA’s commitment to keeping the spirit of Yakuza alive for the next generation of players.
