Action RPG A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei Shows First Gameplay Under PlayStation China Hero Project

The martial arts-themed action RPG A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and WeMade, CangMo Game Entertainment has confirmed as it unveiled the game’s first gameplay trailer and a new batch of screenshots. A release date has not yet been announced.

Previously known as Project: Jinyiwei, A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei is set in ancient China during the late Ming Dynasty, a period marked by political instability and looming collapse. Players step into the role of an ordinary boatman who, after an unexpected turn of events, is forced to infiltrate the Jinyiwei, the Imperial Guards of the Ming Dynasty, as an undercover agent working for the black market. This dual existence places the protagonist at the center of clashing loyalties, secret investigations, and an expanding conspiracy.

A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei‘s gameplay blends fast-paced martial arts combat with traversal-focused exploration, allowing players to sprint across rooftops, scale walls, and engage enemies in cinematic Wuxia-inspired duels. A central mechanic revolves around a unique “deduction” ability, which lets players foresee outcomes and retrace different possibilities within sandbox-style levels. By effectively traveling through overlapping timelines, players can reassess decisions, manipulate events, and uncover hidden truths.

As missions progress, players navigate the internal politics of the Jinyiwei while completing covert tasks for outside factions. Investigations involve interrogations, piecing together evidence, and using deduction to identify culprits, all while deciding how to survive within a volatile power struggle. The game emphasizes player choice, presenting divergent paths that range from becoming a righteous knight-errant to serving as a calculating official, or carving out an entirely different fate amid the chaos of the jianghu.
