DaRmaZat Ubisoft has released a free demo of strategy game Anno 117: Pax Romana for PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The demo is playable until September 16. Alongside the demo, the company also revealed the game’s official PC specifications and released a new feature trailer.
The title made its public playable debut earlier this month at gamescom 2025, where thousands of attendees experienced it for the first time. It went on to win awards for Best PC Game and Best Booth of the show. Now, players around the world have the opportunity to try out the next entry in the long-running series at home.
Anno 117: Pax Romana aims to redefine the strategy genre by delivering the most expansive simulation in the series to date. Powered by Ubisoft Mainz’s Empire Engine, the game is enhanced with a wide range of technological innovations. Players will notice details such as vegetation that sways naturally in the wind and terrain that realistically shifts as provinces expand.
The game also employs ray tracing, global illumination, and atmospheric scattering, creating outdoor environments where light reflects authentically across surfaces and weather changes dynamically over the course of the day. Crowds bring cities and arenas to life with simulations that evolve alongside a full day-and-night cycle, whether exploring busy streets or watching the energy of a colosseum grow as the day progresses.
Coming off the milestone of six million players for Anno 1800, Ubisoft sees this free demo as the perfect chance for newcomers to join the community and begin their journey as ambitious Roman governors.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is due out on November 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Ubisoft Store.
