Psychological horror experience Tape 101: Liminal Descent is opening registrations for an upcoming Steam playtest, with access beginning on February 17, exclusively on PC via Steam. Players can request entry starting today, offering an early look at new content ahead of the game’s planned full release in 2026.

The playtest introduces Chapter 3: Madness, marking the next step in the game’s descent through liminal spaces where perception, memory, and spatial logic begin to fracture. This new chapter expands on the title’s core themes by translating psychological states into distorted architecture, drawing inspiration from the Kübler-Ross model of grief as environments grow increasingly unstable and disorienting.
Alongside the debut of Chapter 3, the playtest also includes meaningful updates to Chapters 1 and 2. These revisions refine puzzle design, improve navigation flow, and deepen environmental storytelling, strengthening immersion and pacing as players navigate spaces that repeat, loop, and subtly shift around them.
Tape 101‘s gameplay centers on observation rather than combat, with players relying on a small RC car equipped with a camera to explore unreachable areas, activate hidden mechanisms, and make sense of spaces that refuse to obey conventional logic. The horror in Tape 101: Liminal Descent emerges not from enemies, but from atmosphere, repetition, and the gradual erosion of certainty as architecture itself becomes the puzzle.
