THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have announced that Gothic Remake will launch in early 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and GOG.

A full reimagining of the 2001 cult classic, Gothic Remake brings the harsh world of the Khorinis mining colony to life with modern visuals and updated gameplay systems. Players step into the role of a nameless prisoner, sentenced to labor inside a magical barrier that has gone out of control. Once designed to contain the convict workforce, the barrier has fractured, leaving the region lawless and ruled by factions of violent inmates.
Amid rising tensions between rival groups and the ever-present threat of monsters and wild creatures, the arrival of a new prisoner begins to shift the balance of power. Players must survive and navigate the complex political and social landscape of the colony, while uncovering the deeper consequences of the kingdom’s war against an orcish invasion.
The remake is being developed as a faithful return to the original game’s setting, atmosphere, and narrative structure, but with a completely rebuilt world and a modernized combat system that evolves the foundations of the 2001 design for current-generation platforms. Further updates on content and launch details will follow ahead of release.
